The most popular language is English. In this computer age, English is the only language that any one can understand. So to say, it has become as an ideal language for expressing our feelings and it is also the means of interaction with a lot of people all across the globe. Without it we could not communicate in easier way and it would cause great problems .

English is always a means of bridge to there countries considering that it is a universal language and people tend to adapt it since it is accepted language wherever you go. It's the easiest way to learn and people tend to know a bit of this language so it won't be hard for them to interact with many people if they are going to used this medium.

If not for English I couldn't imagine what life would be in this world. Language holds people closer and make them apart as well. If not for English which serves as mediator in different area and locations then people will remain unattached and would not be able to develop in a long run. English is very helpful in terms of development of nations and promoting relationship to people.

From Lord Truth 18th Jan 2008

Not entirely uninteresting especially for the way the female threw evil enticing lifelines for Graddol to use to go through the usual trashing the Brits game-which I must say Graddol either innocently didnt notice or deliberately ignored -though there were a few remarks about learners not wanting the cultural baggage that comes with English

Its true that English is learned for the most simplistically practical reasons by people at the lowest levels of for example the construction industries of the world but it is dangerous to imagine that behind even these levels is not the sense of power
and magic that English presents.
For three hundred and fifty years the people of a tiny island ruled the world-created its institutions of law science and commerce -then one of the nations they had created and that had broken away took over-then after world wars and devastation an economic commercial and cultural resugence occured in the mother country. How was all this all possible? We can read the histories but where is the secret in all this-and people look for the secret in the language
The Chinese and Indians know that for whatever reason the world runs on British and American cultural magic to sustain it and that magic emanates from the power and magical structures of the English language-with its cultural baggage running from Shakespeare to Harry Potter.
It is that mysterious cultural baggage that sustains the magic of English despite Graddols 'Uni' minded sneer.

P.S -British Council operatives are usually in MI6 -Graddol, with those cold hard emotionless eyes must surely be a quite senior officer
